Why is the bathroom scale not enough?<\/h2>\n

A scale adds everything together. It cannot tell whether a change came from fat, lean tissue or fluid. A body-composition measurement separates compartments. The SURMOUNT-1 substudy used DXA, a scan-based method, to compare participants at the start and at week 72. [1]<\/p>\n

Who had both scans?<\/h2>\n

No. This analysis included 160 participants with scans at both time points: 124 in pooled tirzepatide groups and 36 in the placebo group. A substudy is a smaller investigation within a larger trial.
